Nioh 3: Crucible Spike Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Nioh 3, revealing the map requires finding and destroying all Crucible Spikes. These jagged, obsidian-like formations are the physical manifestations of corruption, acting as anchors that "lock" the surrounding area.

Whether they are infecting a standard Shrine in the open field or a massive Bodhisattva Statue within the deep Crucible, these Spikes must be shattered to reclaim the land and regain access to your most vital services.

Purifying these zones is a core pillar of your progression, directly impacting your power level and your ability to navigate the game's increasingly complex regions.

Until a Crucible Spike is destroyed, the nearby sanctuary remains Corrupted. While in this state, you are barred from:

  • You cannot level up your attributes or manage your Soul Cores.
  • Corrupted Shrines cannot be used as travel points, often forcing you to trek through dangerous territory on foot.
  • You will be unable to restock your Elixirs or Tools, making death much more likely.

Beyond simply unlocking Shrines, destroying Crucible Spikes provides permanent, stackable benefits that are essential for high-level play:

  • Each destroyed Spike increases your maximum Spirit Force, allowing you to use more powerful Yokai abilities and Guardian Spirit skills in succession.
  • Your Guardian Spirit’s attack power increases, and their unique special effects scale based on the total number of Spikes you have purified across all eras.
  • Clearing Spikes is one of the fastest ways to raise your Exploration Level. Doing so removes the fog from your map, revealing the locations of Chijiko, Hot Springs, Valuable Chests, and Amrita deposits.

Crucible Spikes are often guarded by Elite Yokai or hidden within Lesser Crucibles—mini-dungeons that challenge your combat endurance. To help you cleanse the map and maximize your Spirit Force, we have pinpointed every open-world Crucible Spike location on our Nioh 3 Interactive Maps.
